DryEyeRhythm is a smartphone application (app) developed in-house for dry eye research. In addition to basic demographics provided by users and participants, DryEyeRhthym also has unique features to comprehensively evaluate for dry eye and recommend in-person evaluation for suspected patients without diagnosis. Such features include: 「Dry Eye Measurements」 using blink frequencies and blink intervals measured by front-facing smartphone cameras; 「Lifestyle Survey」 to assess for various dry eye-related factors; 「Work Productivity」 evaluations; 「Depression Check」 to assess for mental illnesses seen from their correlation; and 「Dry Eye Map」, which displays users’ dry eye severity at a local level throughout the country.
