Collaboration between University-launched Startup InnoJin and Sumitomo Corporation
– Introducing the Ophthalmic Online Medical Platform to "Tenohira Ganka" –
InnoJin Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) has jointly developed an online medical platform specialized in ophthalmic care with Sumitomo Corporation.
This platform has now been introduced and has commenced operation at "Tenohira Ganka" in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo (https://www.tenohiraganka.com).
By fusing medical knowledge based on university research achievements with the business development capabilities of an integrated trading company, this service makes it possible to deliver specialized eye care even to patients who have difficulty visiting a clinic.
Through this, we will promote early detection and early treatment of diseases, contributing to the maintenance of eye health.

Role of the Ophthalmic Online Medical Platform
Developed specifically for ophthalmic care under the supervision of ophthalmologists, this platform is designed to provide an easy-to-access medical environment through online medical care, and when combined with face-to-face consultations, will enable patients to receive more appropriate care.
・Support for patients in medically underserved areas
Even those who do not have an eye clinic nearby can receive an examination by an ophthalmologist via online consultations.
・Improving QOL for the working generation and supporting corporate health management through workplace eye exams
By managing employees' eye health, we contribute to maintaining and improving productivity as well as promoting health-oriented corporate management.
・Providing consultation opportunities for patient groups who find it difficult to visit clinics
Even those who are too busy to visit a clinic can receive consultations from an ophthalmologist utilizing online medicine.
・Promoting early detection and early treatment of diseases
Even those who cannot make time for a face-to-face consultation can be examined by an ophthalmologist at the stage of initial symptoms.
・Contributing to the maintenance of eye health
Patients can check on daily eye discomfort or abnormalities early on, allowing them to continue regular care and treatment.
Key Features of the Ophthalmic Online Medical Platform
・Check-ups via eye photos
Patients can receive a diagnosis from an ophthalmologist based on a questionnaire and photos of their eyes taken with a smartphone.
・Appropriate guidance when face-to-face care is needed
If necessary after the consultation, a referral letter can be issued to enable patients to receive face-to-face care.
・Easy to use with no app required
Patients can smoothly undergo medical consultations without the need to download a dedicated app.
・Shipping of pharmaceuticals
After the medical consultation, the necessary pharmaceuticals or prescriptions can be delivered to the patient's home, etc., allowing treatment to begin promptly.
Relationship with Face-to-Face Care
This platform does not replace face-to-face care; instead, it is designed to strictly play a complementary role. If it is judged necessary as a result of the consultation, we support patients so they can promptly visit an appropriate medical institution, such as by issuing a referral letter.
By utilizing online care, we will establish an environment that quickly directs patients towards appropriate treatment.
Future Developments
InnoJin Co., Ltd. will promote the digital transformation (DX) of medical care, leveraging our research capabilities as a university-born startup and Sumitomo Corporation's global network and business foundation.
Taking the introduction of our platform to "Tenohira Ganka" as an opportunity, we will expand collaborations with medical institutions that sympathize with our philosophy, and establish an environment where patients with limited access to healthcare can receive care with peace of mind.
Furthermore, we will enhance flexible system improvement and support systems that meet the needs of medical institutions, contributing to the improvement of medical quality together with medical professionals.
